Hey all,

Any ideas on how to fix up a board that has had a pad come off? I have a PCB with a couple that are half lifted and I want to know if there is a way to reattach or some other trick.

If it's a board with exposed tracks (i.e no solder mask), you can kind of spread the solder onto the tracks, but if it's masked shit gets a bit harder.

Because it's only half lifted you should be able to just solder to it and it might keep working.

Did they come up when you were desoldering?

Yep they came off during desoldering. It is a masked board so I'll test it with a multimeter and see if passes current. Fingers crossed!

The unfortunate reality is that PCBs aren't designed to be reworked. It pays to be careful when putting parts in and make sure they're the right values so that you don't have to remove any.

As you said, check it with a multimeter, and if the pads are no longer conductive to the adjacent pads, just use some resistor lead to connect the appropriate components.
